Employment Law & Practice - a practical guide

Course Overview

Every employer whether large or small needs to be aware of the ever-increasing changes in Employment law and ancillary legal requirements, not only to motivate and gain the best return from their investment in their employees, but also to minimise their possible exposure to costly tribunal-awarded compensation.

Our popular one-day Employment Law seminar provides an ideal opportunity to be brought up-to-date on the latest laws and developments, gain the benefit of practical advice and guidance on recent binding legal decisions - as well as ask questions on matters of individual concern in an informal atmosphere.

The seminar will examine (amongst other items):
  • avoiding 'employees from hell' by proactive recruitment
  • the new disciplinary/dismissal code (with specimen forms)
  • the effect of the new Equality Act
  • the restrictions on enforcing retirement
  • the extension of rights for parents/carers
  • new far-reaching and expensive rights for temps (October 2011)
  • problem areas such as layoffs and redundancies, transferring employees under TUPE and the extension of religious discrimination to include 'philosophical beliefs', etc., etc.
As well as being able to raise matters of individual concern, you will receive fully comprehensive (and user-friendly) notes on all items covered, which include examples of policies and procedures, together with practically orientated handouts.

Presenter David Martin, a CBI member of the Employment Tribunals for 20 years, writes and lectures extensively on employment law and practice. His delivery is clear and approachable - making the sessions very interactive and, say delegates, enjoyable.

Numbers are restricted to allow maximum number of individual questions and concerns to be covered.
