The Company Director - a practical and
essential guide

Course Overview

As a director of a limited liability company you have complete overall responsibility for such requirements, many of which are constantly changing - and which carry increasingly harsh penalties for non-compliance.

This practically orientated one-day seminar will help bring you up-to-date with current and anticipated requirements, including:
  • the Court's current expectations of directors - encapsulated in the new 7 explicit legal duties set out in the new Companies Act
  • being proactive regarding the obligations of the Bribery Act with examples of a Code of Ethics and Gift policy
  • requirements under the new Corporate Manslaughter, Competition and Enterprise Acts
  • personal obligations regarding safety of employees, workers and sub-contractors
  • employment obligations including:
    • avoiding 'employees from hell' by proactive recruitment
    • the new disciplinary/dismissal code (with specimen form)
    • the effect of the new Equality Act now being implemented
    • the prohibition on enforcing retirement
    • the extension of rights for parents/carers
    • new - and potentially expensive - rights for temps (October 2011)
    • comparability requirements for agency and part-time and fixed term employees
During the interactive seminar you are encouraged to ask questions and raise concerns. We will suggest essentially practical solutions rather than addressing legal theory and supply you with comprehensive and user-friendly notes containing 'ready to use' checklists, procedures and policies (including safety and vehicle folders).
